Care of products
Leather is an exceptional, beautiful, noble and very durable natural material.
Our products are made from the finest materials available, and the experienced customer will recognise our quality. Genuine leather can be distinguished from synthetic material at first glance, by touch or even by smell.
The basis of our product philosophy is to produce high quality products exclusively from genuine leather. Genuine leather should be treated as a living organic material and cared for accordingly.
Properties of genuine leather
As leather is a natural material, it reacts to weather conditions such as rain, snow, frost or sunlight. In wet conditions, it absorbs water either in direct contact or in the form of increased humidity. In dry conditions, on the other hand, it dries out. Prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions fatigues the leather, so to preserve its beauty and durability it needs to be treated from time to time. Using the right products, exclusively designed for this purpose, will ensure that the leather does not crack and is also protected from excessive moisture.
Principles of proper care for leather products
If these principles of proper care are followed, our products will bring you pleasure and serve you for many years without significant changes in their properties.
Leather care is not demanding, but it must be carried out regularly or as needed and must not be neglected. In the following, the term 'leather' is used to refer to genuine natural bovine leather treated to the final form in which it is used for the manufacture of our products ('leather')
- Cleaning the Leather
- Only a non-abrasive cloth moistened with lukewarm water may be used to clean the smooth leather of common dirt! The cloth should only be lightly dampened so that the leather does not soak up water.
- In case of heavier soiling, lukewarm soapy water can be used without added aggressive chemicals or other substances that could damage the surface.
- After cleaning, wipe the surface with a dry, non-abrasive cloth and allow to dry at normal room temperature if necessary.
- After cleaning, if necessary, the leather surface should be treated with a suitable impregnating agent or cream
- Leather care and maintenance
- only use special products for leather care that are designed for this purpose
- impregnating preparations or creams can be used to treat the leather
- before applying these products, carefully study the terms of use and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer
- it is recommended to test the tolerance and effect of these products or creams on the leather surface on the product in an inconspicuous place beforehand
- Prohibited practices for the care and maintenance of leather
- leather goods must never be washed!
- if the leather goods are damp, for example after exposure to intense rain, they must never be dried using direct fire or any other source of intense radiant heat (e.g. in equipment such as an oven, microwave, dryer, etc.), but must be left to dry at normal room temperature!
- if the leather goods are exposed to intense frost and freezing, they must also never be exposed to intense radiant heat, but must be allowed to warm up naturally at normal room temperature!
- never use aggressive chemicals that are not designed for this purpose to clean leather goods!
- when cleaning, never use abrasive cloths or other tools that could scratch the surface of the leather! Wet but also dry leather is susceptible to mechanical damage!
- leather goods must not be stored in a place where they would be exposed to excessive moisture or intense heat, which could cause serious damage!
